Competition this week again at Yarra Ranges

The Council have advised that the Croydon track will not be completed in time for competition this Saturday, so we will again be competing at Yarra Ranges commencing at 11.30am. Help setting up from 11.00am would be appreciated. BBQ food and drinks will be available. We are hoping to be back at Croydon for competition on 4th March, so will keep you updated.

This week is PB Round and all U6, U7 and U8 athletes will receive a ribbon when they obtain a PB. Of course all other athletes are still encouraged to try their hardest as well!

Well done to our athletes who competed at Region Track and Field Championships on the weekend. There were some great results, many PB’s and it was great to see our athletes cheering on their fellow Croydon friends. Big thanks to Team Managers Nick and Cassie for all their work, and to all those that helped out on duty. Initial qualifiers for State Track and Field Championships have been announced.

General training is on Wednesday at 4pm on the oval behind the Croydon track.

No Competition this week

There is no competition this Friday night.  We expected to be back at Croydon but the track upgrades have not been completed. At this stage we are hoping to be back the following Saturday 25th February but will keep you updated.

Good luck to our athletes competing at Region Track and Field Championships this weekend.  If your child is competing and you have not received an email with the timetable and duty allocation please get in touch with us.

Remember all athletes competing must wear a Croydon singlet with the Jetstar badge sewn on over the Little Athletics logo and the Subway registration bib.  Shorts should be black with no pockets or logos.

Please also note that the Little Athletics website had the previous year’s schedule posted for the majority of the time. Here are the actual 2017 schedules for both days:

Relaython Round

This weekend is Relaython Round. We are asking athletes to help in running a continuous relay to raise money for the Royal Children’s Hospital Good Friday Appeal. We ask that all athletes donate a gold coin to participate and all other donations are welcome so bring your spare change! You can also donate online at our own fundraising page by clicking on this link: CLAC Relaython Donations. We are again at Yarra Ranges this week with competition starting at 11.30am and warm ups at 11.15am.  Competition will again be slightly reduced to shorten the program due to the time of day and possible heat.

As we still need to set up our timing gates, early helpers would be appreciated and also help packing up. BBQ and drinks will be available for purchase.

Saturday Competition at Yarra Ranges this week

As the track upgrade at Croydon has begun, competition this Saturday is at Yarra Ranges athletics track, Morrison Reserve, Mount Evelyn.  It is Inter Centre Round and we are having a combined competition with Yarra Ranges Little Athletics.

Yarra Ranges will be running the track events and CLAC will be running most of the field events. For any athletes wishing to do javelin and the walk, javelin will start at 8am and the walk events at 8.30am. Please note that parents of children doing these events will most likely need to help record or assist in other ways.  The rest of the events will begin by 9am.

Box Hill Relay 2016

Hi CLAC families,

To all the CLAC athletes out there you should be very proud of yourselves today for your efforts at the Box Hill relays. Some of you were new to the whole relay concept and others were coming back from competing many other times.

I would like to say that you all applied yourselves in a fantastic manner and showed just what Croydon little athletics is all about. There was plenty of smiles shown and enjoyment by all competing athletes. Congratulations to all of you.

The best thing is we can only improve on the excellent showing today and I for one cannot wait for region to come around as I know you will only improve and better for today’s hard work.

Thank you also to all the parents for bringing out our athletes and then being out there the whole day with them.

Next Croydon competition day is this Saturday can’t wait to see you all down at the track J
