Cross Country season events are held each Saturday mornings in April through August. Several venues are used offering a range of running conditions. It’s an 8.45am warm up and races commence at 9.00am sharp and generally are all complete by 11.00am. In addition to the regular Cross Country runs you might like to consider participating in one or more of the many Open Day’s offered by various Little Athletic Centre’s. Each season we attend Knox Open Day and the Hills challenge at Cockatoo.
In the event of wet or inclement weather if a Program is cancelled it will be run the following week (sequence is always Program 1, 2, 3)
1) Morrison reserve – Mt Evelyn (Yarra Ranges athletics track)
2) Lilydale lake – Lilydale
3) Margaret Lewis Reserve – Coldstream
Sometimes if it is not possible to run the scheduled Program we may elect to run certain events.
Also for this season there will be a 1 off run at Durham Road in Croydon.
For this season it will be a minimal cost of $1 per race for the kids to compete and if adults want to run with the kids it is $2 per race for them.
The age group categories are as follows:
U13/U14/U15 OPEN 3000m
You can choose to run in just 1 race or even all of the events. You do not just have to run in your age bracket. PB’s are recorded at each venue and rewarded with lollies/chocolate.
First Round of the season is on April 7th at Morrison Reserve. Hope to see you all out there!!
For the full seasons calendar look in the Calendar link on this webpage.
New members of all ages and abilities will always be welcomed at the club. Please go to croydonlac.com.au or on our Facebook page for more information, results and training times.
We are pleased to invite all our families to our Centre presentation evening. The event will be held on Saturday 24th March 2018 at Ruskin Park Primary School, Ruskin Avenue, Croydon from 5pm-10pm.
We will have a DJ and disco as well as a photo booth. Pizza dinner and drinks will be provided (BYO adult drinks).
The cost is $20 per family (immediate family only – $5 for each extra adult / child). This payment can be paid via direct debit (details on flyer below) or a cash payment to be made by Championship Day.
On this evening we will be presenting Club awards, Centre age group champions, Centre records and more. We will also be holding our AGM for the year as well as electing our 2018/19 Centre Committee. Our Croydon Committee is extremely dedicated to our athletes and their development as well as keeping with the motto of Family, Fun and Fitness. It would be great to have new members of our community step forward with their ideas for the future of the Centre and join our team.

Hope to see you there!
We are beginning to plan our Centre Championship Day for 2017-18 which is on Saturday 17th March 2018.
On this day, athletes will compete in 4 events which they select on the form below. We ask athletes to number events in order of preference. Every attempt is made to give all athletes at least 2 of their top 4 preferences but this at times can be difficult. Athletes who do not receive their preferences will still be placed in another event so they are still competing in 4. It is important to number every box in case all four preferences cannot be accommodated.
This is an all day event starting at 8.45am and finishing around 4pm so it is best to keep the whole day free. Families will be asked to complete a duty in this day, please contact your Club team manager if you foresee an issue with this.
The top 3 place-getters of each event will be presented with medals on the podium. Canteen, BBQ and First aid will be present all day. Make sure you bring sunscreen, hats, plenty of water and your camera.
Please contact your team manager if you have further questions or send CLAC an email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Championship preference forms need to be returned to your Club team manager or emailed by Saturday 24th February 2018. Please make sure you hand the form in on time as late forms may not be processed or athletes may be allocated to events that may not be their preference.
CLAC Championship Entry Form 2017-18
PLEASE NOTE: Competition on Saturday 27th January has been changed to a twilight meet on Wednesday 24th January. This is due to a high number of the Committee and helpers being unable to attend due to, among other things, other athletic events around the State. We hope this means more athletes who are going away for the long weekend will now be able to attend.
Unfortunately, for personal reasons Julianne is unable to do Monday and Wednesday jumps training for the rest of the season.
However, the wonderful Meg Rankin is offering an extra training session, so from next week your Training options are:
Sundays 10am – 11am: General Training
(Cam and Ashlinn – 0427 341320)
Sundays 10am – 11.30am: Hurdles (Jordan – 0413 024866)
Tuesdays 5pm – 6pm: SPRINTS (Meg – 0409 127512)
Thursdays 4.30pm – 5.30pm: General Training (Meg – 0409 127512)
If you haven’t already, please register your interest in each training session you’d like to attend, using the coach’s mobile numbers provided above. That way, the coaches can contact you directly if there are any issues with running your session due to extreme weather/illness in the future.
As many of you are aware, the Maroondah Carols were postponed from last Saturday to this Saturday 9th December. This presented a clash between our regular competition and the setup activities required for the Carols. We have met with Maroondah Council and a plan is now in place so that our competition this Saturday won’t be impacted.
There will be restricted car parking on Saturday as the stage will be set up in the car park. The marquees and food vans will not be set up until after midday to allow us time to complete our event. Set up will be as normal, kicking off from around 7:45am for an 8:30am javelin event. Warm up for all other events will be at normal time of 8:45am.
BUT WAIT THERE’S MORE….
As we have had a couple events washed out this season and will have our usual Christmas breakup impacted due to the Carols setup, we have decided to hold a Croydon Little Aths Twilight Xmas picnic on Friday 15th December!
This won’t be a normal twilight program. We will only run minimal normal events and will have a couple of Christmas fun events as well. The Centre will put on a free sausage sizzle and soft drinks will be available for purchase on the night. Tinsel up and come along in your best Xmas gear!
Details as follows:
When: Friday 15th December, 2017
Time: 6:00pm – 8:00pm (Setup from 5:30)
BYO Picnic rug / chair
Pssst…. There may also be a special visitor on the night..
ONE LAST THING….XMAS RAFFLE
We will be handing out raffle tickets this Saturday. Attached is the flyer for the raffle including information on raffle prizes. There are some pretty cool prizes. The raffle will be drawn on Friday 15th December at 7:30pm. We will be collecting the ticket stubs this Saturday and also on Friday 15th December before the draw. If you are not able to make it to the Friday 15th Christmas twilight, they can be dropped into Wednesday night training on 13th December. Prizes will be drawn and winners notified if they are not in attendance.
Monies raised through this raffle will go directly back into the Centre for equipment purchases for both competition and coaching.
See you at the track

There are 48 spots available for a 30 minute group training and fitness session in the morning. Participants make a donation to participate with all proceeds donated to us. It’s open to all community members. Some of the staff will also be stopping by our competition to speak to interested people. Snap Fitness are located in the Arndale Shopping Centre just behind the track.
Please refer to the below flyer for all details and help support a local business that supports us.

With the current weather forecast and with the safety of athletes, officials and families in mind, tonight’s competition has been cancelled.
As a number of you are already aware, Maroondah Council have postponed their Christmas Carols until Saturday 9th December. The Committee are currently working with the council to ensure that our competition on that day can still go ahead, perhaps in a slightly altered format, and we will keep families updated.
Thank you and stay safe and dry.
Athletes competing at Region relays this Saturday MUST wear their Subway competition patch and have the Coles badge sewn on their Croydon singlet above the Little Aths logo. Plain black shorts to be worn (no pockets) and no logos larger than 30mm. Please speak to your coach if you have any questions.
