Hi CLAC Families,
Round 4 of the cross country season has been and gone and the weather again at Lilydale Lake was friendly to us. Many of our athletes ran in different distances than what they normally do and all ran very well. Results will be published soon.
This week we are at Morrisons Reserve up at Mount Evelyn. As a special treat for the under 6’s we are calling their race “the superhero race”. All kids are being welcomed to wear either a superhero t-shirt, costume etc. So that they can go out to and have some great fun while running the race. As usual it’s an 8.45 warm up and the forecast is sunny so hope to see lots of you out there.
The other important news is next week is the Knox Open Day on Saturday May 20 which we will be running in instead of our normal program and I keenly urge you to register to come along and run. It is a lovely course with great fun had by all.

Round 2 and 3 of the cross country season have just flown by. The weather for round 2 at Lilydale Lake was quite good with the bad weather holding off until the afternoon and with a new start and finishing line, it certainly made the course more interesting. Round 3 was at Marg Lewis Reserve and the weather looked a bit gloomy in the early morning but it held off while all races were held. Thank you again to all helpers across all the races. Your help is much appreciated. This week there is a change in the program and we will be at Lilydale Lake on Saturday May 6th and not Morrisons Reserve. Warm up’s start at 8.45am and P.B. lollies will be in place so come along and grab yourself some sweets.

SATURDAY 8TH APRIL CROSS COUNTRY ROUND 1

Saturday’s weather was outstanding with beautiful sunshine and in that the turnout was fantastic up at Morrison’s reserve.

Round 2 this week is Saturday 19th with us heading to Lilydale Lake for warm ups starting at 8.45am. We meet on the far side of the playground, opposite side from the toilets, in the hut over there. Hope to again see all your smiling faces there.

2016-17 AGM Information for families

Cross Country season events are held each Saturday mornings in April through August. Several venues are used offering a range of running conditions. It’s an 8.45am warm up and races commence at 9.00am sharp and generally are all complete by 11.00am. In addition to the regular Cross Country runs you might like to consider participating in one or more of the many Open Day’s offered by various Little Athletic Centre’s. Each season we attend Knox Open Day and the Hills challenge at Cockatoo.

In the event of wet or inclement weather if a Program is cancelled it will be run the following week (sequence is always Program 1, 2, 3)

1)     Morrison reserve – Mt Evelyn (Yarra Ranges athletics track)

2)     Lilydale lake – Lilydale

3)     Margaret Lewis Reserve – Coldstream

Sometimes if it is not possible to run the scheduled Program we may elect to run certain events.

Also for this season there will be a 1 off run at Durham Road in Croydon.

For this season it will be a minimal cost of $1 per race for the kids to compete and if adults want to run with the kids it is $2 per race for them. Also the adults will need to pay $25 for the season to cover them for insurance purposes (e.g. ambulance).

If anyone is interested in doing any training at all, we are welcome to train with Jamie Strudley at Morrison Reserve (Yarra Ranges athletics track). Training is on a Tuesday and Thursday 6.00pm till 7.30pm. The Thursday training is at Lilydale West Primary School in the gym.

The age group categories are as follows:

U6 500m

U7/U8 1000m

U9/U10 1500m

U11/U12 2000M

U13/U14/U15 OPEN 3000m

You can choose to run in just 1 race or even all of the events. You do not just have to run in your age bracket. PB’s are recorded at each venue and rewarded with lollies/chocolate.

First Round of the season is on April 8^th at Morrison Reserve. Hope to see you all out there!!
